FAQ

Pre-travel questions – if you are travelling to Kas from overseas and you are not a Turkish citizen please check whether you need a visa.  The list of countries whose residents require a visa are listed on the website https://www.evisa.gov.tr/. Make sure you have your visa before you travel. It’s easy to purchase. Check out the website listed above to apply.   Beware as there are other websites which sell visas but they will charge a commission.

Mosquitos – mosquitos are not generally a big problem in Kas.  Remain vigilant around sundown. Keep windows and doors closed as much as possible. You will not need to wear repellent when in Kas town in the evenings. If you are near areas of nature or by the water in the evenings then you will find they are more prevalent.

Air conditioning – most of our properties have air conditioning units throughout to provide comfort during the hot summer weather. These can also be used on the heating function on the cooler evenings in winter and spring.

Garden and pool maintenance – you will not be expected to have any involvement in the maintenance of the gardens or swimming pools at the properties.  Gardeners are employed to look after the grounds including the swimming pools and will do so throughout your stay.

Drinking water – it is advised to use bottled water for drinking.  Water from the taps can be used for cooking.

Waste system – the sewage pipes in this area of Turkey are narrow and therefore toilet paper should be placed in the waste bins provided in the lavatories.  To provide additional cleansing Turkish toilets have a built in bidet system.

Refuse collection – there are large silver dumpsters used for communal waste disposal.  Each household should place their rubbish in these dumpsters.  The dumpsters are emptied at least daily. With the warm climate, it is advised to dispose of your household waste on a regular basis.  Unfortunately, recycling is still at a minimum in this area so all waste is placed in the dumpster together.

Driving – When driving around Turkey you should carry your passport and driving licence with you or you could get fined on the spot.  Make sure that your hire car also has the correct papers and these should also be in the car.  The maximum speed on the main roads is 90km per hour and in other places, stick to the speed limits on the signs.  The police DO enforce speeding fines and there is zero tolerance for drink driving.
